Origins and Purpose

Lake Orion Robotics FRC Team 302 They believe in inspiring students by Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematical (STEM) studies.

This prosperous team is supported in part by Lake Orion High School, mentors and corporate partners. Their goal? Preparing students for the engineering and business world with these skills1

Programs

Year 1 Program:

This program involves fresh students where they perform in four modules; electrical, fabrication, CAD(Computer Aided Design), and software.

Their challenge? The vs. the 2009 Varsity Robotics team robot.Gatewood built his robot with one goal in mind…. Beating the varsity team’s 2009 robot, Ping Pong Pandamonium.

This hybrid season brought on challenges from the pandemic but Team 302 still remained united. They traded robot parts between houses, crafted robots over video calls, impressive resilience and adaptability2.

Some of the more prominent awards they have won are the Excellence in Engineering and Entrepreneurship Awards at qualifying tournaments.

Community Engagement

DECEMBER 4, 2012, The MustangsInvolvement In Community-Team 302 is heavily involved in community functions with local schools in its mission to promote STEM as highlighted at ACIT.

Varsity Program: High level students work with mentors to create skills of the engineering world and entrepreneurship.

Achievements

Hybrid Season Struggle: Finding Light in the Darkness, Team 302 Style With Video calls they cobbed together a hybrid season of transferring parts between houses and working on robots over video calls.

Magpi Awards: They were a dedicated bunch and their hard work paid off; they won awards for being innovative and nimble.
